Balbibaha Mukta Gaun

Balbibaha Mukta Gaun Ongoing Programme · बालविवाह मुक्त गाउँ

Helping 46 wards become child-marriage-free through kishori clubs, family dialogue and ward committees.

In the wards where this programme began, more than half of women aged 20–24 had been married before 18.

Balbibaha Mukta Gaun brings together kishori clubs, ward child-protection committees, parents and religious leaders. Girls learn about their rights and plan their futures; families and elders discuss what early marriage costs a daughter. When a ward has gone a full year without a child marriage, the palika declares it child-marriage-free.

Objectives

  • Form 92 kishori clubs reaching 3,600 adolescent girls
  • Establish child-protection committees in all 46 wards
  • Hold family dialogues with 5,000 households
  • Support 30 wards to be declared child-marriage-free
