Before this programme, survivors of violence in Dhanusha had to travel to Kathmandu for shelter and specialised support.
Sakhi Suraksha Kendra opened paralegal desks in 14 ward offices, trained 40 counsellors and ran a safe-space centre in Janakpur that supported more than 1,100 women and girls. The centre is now run jointly with the municipality.
